Local culture is an important part of national identity. This research analyzes the positive and negative impacts of local culture on the character formation of elementary school students, especially at SD Negeri 5 Arjowilangun. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. By understanding how local culture shapes character, we can preserve it for future generations. Through case studies in schools with strong cultural backgrounds, this research identifies cultural values that support and hinder student character development. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with students and teachers. Local culture is not only part of students' self-identity, but also a moral basis for behavior. The research results show that local culture has great potential in shaping positive student character, but can also be an obstacle in facing changing times. . The role of teachers, parents and the community is also important in supporting the formation of student character through school culture. In conclusion, a positive school culture and collaboration between all parties can be the key to forming the character of elementary school students
